Selecting a good New Jersey law school is an important decision because you will spend a considerable amount of time on that campus. Even though you can always transfer to another school, it is probably best to stay put, as that is the optimal way to form relationships with your professors and fellow students. Consider the following criteria that may influence you decision:

New Jersey Academic Program

It is important to learn about the procedures of the academic program itself. This means you should inquire about the number of courses to be taken and how flexible the program is in offering these classes. Is the program known for a certain specialty and does this specialty harmonize with your wants and desires? You should ensure that there is a healthy balance between large lectures and smaller discussion-based classes.

New Jersey Geographic Location

The geographic location is more than the actual city and state the college exists in. Once you picked a few states that you feel you could live in for the next years, monitor crime rates, community size and the climate. How is the local business community and does it provide the opportunity for internships and summer employment? Lastly, it is important to have the option to temporarily study elsewhere or even internationally.

New Jersey Resources

If you have the opportunity you should inspect the academic facilities, including classrooms, study halls and the library. You might want the option to live on campus when you begin school. If that is the case, you should also inspect the athletic facilities and judge the overall campus atmosphere, as you will be spending most of your time there.

Other Law School Considerations

Many New Jersey law students apply to a multitude of schools just for the sake of sending out applications. However, it is recommended to only apply to those schools that you would actually attend if you would be accepted.
